Hiking With Baby.
Juan took us on a surprise hike this weekend and it was so much fun! He told me to pack a picnic and get ready to go hiking! He knows how much I love being active and especially with Luna. We love to take her out with us everywhere that we can and she really is such a well behaved baby. She hardly ever cries, eats everything, and enjoys being outside. She really takes in her surroundings and doesn’t get fussy as long as her needs are met. Taking her just implies being prepared. Make sure to also bring your usual change of clothing for kids, diapers, wipes, appropriate weather wear, and snacks/plenty of water.
- Children’s Tylenol and Motrin
- Calamine lotion
- Tweezers (these can be used to remove splinters or for other tasks)
- Anti-bacterial wipes
- Epipen (if you or your child has allergies)
- Liquid Benadryl
- Ace Wrap
For the longest time I made the excuse that Luna was a baby and that we couldn’t do the same things. I was so paranoid and over the top CRAZY. I didn’t want to take her outside, I was constantly afraid of germs and was washing everything all the time. She actually didn’t leave the house for the first 8 weeks of her life. Whoops! Crazy mom moment!
It is so easy to make excuses after having a baby and be lazy or unmotivated. Don’t get me wrong I love a nice long snuggle day but it is so important to always try new things together as a family. I am so blessed to have an adventurous partner, he is up for whatever, and ready to listen to all my crazy ideas.
Getting Outside As A Family
Our favorite family activity definitely has to be hiking and (shopping lol) with the weather being so nice these last couple of months we have been able to go a ton! It’s a 20 minute drive from our house to Red Rock and that’s where we usually go. So I only assumed that’s where we were going but he took us to the Valley Of Fire State Park and it was so beautiful!
We saw the petroglyphs and so many different animals. Being able to hike and witness history at the same time it was just amazing. I can’t wait until we are able to go and explore more beautiful landmarks. We are in the process of looking up trails in California, Oregon, and Utah. One of our New year’s resolutions was to stay active as a family and explore. The hikes are always great and easy with baby. She even fell asleep on the last one and was just chillin’ on daddy’s chest.
Investing in a hobby for the family
Juan wears her on his chest and wears our backpack on his back. We are looking into a carrier/pack in one. They are super nice but also very spendy. We have some gear to invest in and hopefully we can continue to hike throughout the summer despite the heat. We did two seperate hikes each were about 3/4 mile and stopped in between for a quick diaper change and got back on track! We are going to take a new adventure this weekend to Mount Charleston and I cannot wait.
