Getting Ready Then vs. Now With a Baby
It is very rare being able to get ready without a tiny someone tugging on your leg or rearranging the drawers next to you. That’s real life. Having to stop every 30 seconds makes getting ready a challenge. When we become mother’s we wear so many different hats. We are daughters, friends, wives, mothers then we are ourselves. Always putting us last and never given the time to truly relax without thinking about the next task at hand. Getting ready was once such a calming ritual is now a struggle and a half! Sometimes I have to wait to put her in the car seat so I can do my makeup in the car mirror! Motherhood is mentally and physically exhausting but also exhilarating and beautiful. The beautiful moments make up for all the breakdowns, messes, and stains that now fill our lives as parents to a new baby. I’ve learned to adjust every part of my life to fit Luna’s needs and DEMANDS. She demands that I only have ten minutes or less to get ready. Somedays she allows me a full twenty and I get to actually do my hair. That’s my REAL life and I love it! The luxury of being able to take my time getting ready has long escaped me but that doesn’t mean I have to stop getting ready! I went through a funk where I never got ready and was just in “mom mode”. I was so new to being a mom and was overwhelmed with simple daily tasks that getting ready was the least of my worries. I started to feel like crap about myself and began reading on self-care. It really opened my eyes to the bigger picture.
I can’t be the best mom if I don’t feel my best.
Taking the time to occasionally take care of myself, get my nails done, or going to the gym every day are the little things that keep me sane and level-headed for Luna. I love my girl so much and want her to see a happy, confident, and positive version of me every day! I want to teach her to love herself early on, show other women positivity, and empower those around her. The only way I can hope all these things for her is to lead by example and know that she is always watching.
PUT ON YOUR MOM FACE AND MAKE IT HAPPEN!
I’m sure I’m not the only mama out here struggling to get ready and get out the door on time! I wanted to share my go-to mom face for all the mama’s out there that are just like me! These are all high-end products and will be sharing my drug store version next week! Please let me know if you have tried any of these and your personal experiences with them.
I have been obsessing over this face wash for quite some time. I had heard great things about it and my skin was definitely lacking moisture and that natural glow that EVERY OTHER GIRL seemed to have. I use it with my clairsonic and helps remove all the built-up oils and make up. The purity facial cleanser gently cleanses, tones and melts away all face and eye makeup in one simple step, while lightly hydrating. Skin is left feeling perfectly clean, comfortable and balanced.
I had dry patches on my face and my regular moisturizer wasn’t cutting it. My mom “Mexican diagnosed” me with eczema and I tried this by mistake because they had sent some to Luna and ended up loving it. My dry patches were gone almost instantly and my skin now is the best it has ever been. The oatmeal formula helps strengthen the skin’s moisture to help prevent and protect against dryness.
After struggling to master that perfect brow I jumped on the bandwagon and soon realized that product is everything and fell completely in love with this gel dip brow. A waterproof and buildable matte pomade that stays put! I use my Anastasia #20 angled brow brush to apply and blend through the brow. With this product specifically, A LOT GOES A LONG WAY! I cannot stress that enough. Don’t want you to look like boo boo the clown.
I have searched for what seems like an eternity for the perfect concealer and have finally found it! I LOVE THIS CONCEALER! I struggle with dark under eyes and have tried so many brands and formulas! None have ever given me a result that I am happy with. Either it ends up creasing or looking ridiculous! This long wear concealer gives a flawless matte finish that won’t flake or crease, even if you have dry skin, fine lines, or pore problems.
Hands DOWN Best buildable mascara ever! After having eyelash extensions for a year I couldn’t just go back to regular mascara but this one gave me results that I really loved! I saw lots of reviews that they dry out quickly so when I went to Sephora I asked the girl and she recommended that I started by buying the trial size and that they last about 6 months. Rather than buying a full size one and it drying out halfway in between the tube. Even with one coat and lashes are full and defined. Two coats and lashes are even more luscious, curled, and dramatic. Three coats and you’re ready to ruin someone’s life.
This bronzer is everything. It has a pure matte color…no sparkle or shine so it is ideal for contouring and sculpting your face. Absolutely love this product and the fact that it is super pigmented and lasts me at least 9 months! This is a product that is constantly in my bag for touch ups and is not disappointing! Leaves you with the perfect sun-kissed glow and not a fake orangey tone.
My favorite Matte Lippy EVER! You forget you even have anything on! The lightweight formula glides on a thin coat of color that intensifies as it sets to a matte, transfer-free finish with amazing staying power. I wear the color Trendsetter and is so nice with my skin tone! It is a little on the pricey side but worth it!
I was sent this highlight/blur stick by Milk Cosmetics and I instantly loved the gold pigment and moisturizing formula. The Blur Stick minimizes the appearance of pores and fine lines to create a smooth, invisible matte finish on every skin tone. It is a subtle highlight that you can build up to be bold for a night out or for a day of errands.
This little spritz of heaven really can make a difference in your final look for that moisturizing effect! Whether for a hydrating boost or mid-day pick-me-up, Helps revive dehydrated skin anytime, anywhere. I love this spray for ending my look or for a fresh face that has no make up! I have tried the Rose Water and the Lavender but recommend personally the Rose Water.
